Bout of Books 20

Today marks the first day of Bout of Books 20:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 20 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I thought this laid back readathon would be the perfect motivation for me to make major progress on both my Austen in August and my 15 Books of Summer TBR lists.

Here are the books I’ll be reading from this week:

My priority for the week is my #austeninaugustrbr reading. I think I’ll finish Eligible by Tuesday, but I need to make some major progress in Jane Austen at Home.

I’ve been “reading” Three Men in a Boat for most of the summer-and by that I mean reading a page or two on my kindle app before falling asleep. I’m really enjoying it, but just haven’t been picking it up enough, or at the right times. Hopefully I can give it the attention it deserves during this readathon.

I also hope to make more progress in Voyager. It would be amazing if I could make a large dent in it, but realistically I doubt that will happen. I don’t want it to interfere with my #20booksofsummer reading, but I also want to have a lot of it read before season 3 of Outlander starts. Sigh, reading conflicts…

I plan to choose either August Folly or The Moon Spinners as my 15th book of summer. Thirkell’s novel was on my original 20 Books of Summer TBR, although neither of these was on my updated TBR (oops). We’ll see which I feel like reading this week.

Are you joining in on the #BoutofBooks fun?

  1. Well as long as you have the first few chapters of Voyager read, you should be alright for the first few episodes. I remember hearing an interview where one of the writers said that the first 5 episodes corresponded pretty neatly to the first 5 “parts” of the book. I just took a quick glance at my copy and each “part” is about 50 pages. So if you pace yourself that way you should be OK. But I don’t know if it follows as neatly later in the season, because he did specify the first 5 episodes….
