Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme created by The Broke and the Bookish blog.
This week’s topic is: Books I Hope Santa Brings
🎶 All I want for Christmas is books🎶….
The majority of these are on my wish list, and will either be wrapped and waiting for me, or will be purchased with Christmas money/gift cards. The final few books are from my dream wish list.
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste NgEverything I Never Told You is one of my favorite reads of the past few years, and I can’t wait to pick up Ng’s latest. I’m sure it will be another exquisitely written family drama that will stay with me long after I turn the last page.
Autumn by Ali Smith and Winter by Ali Smith I can’t wait to experience Ali Smith’s writing and the first half of her seasonal quartet. I love the covers on these UK editions as well!
84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff I’ve been meaning to read this little book for ages. This real life story of a transatlantic friendship between two bibliophiles sounds right up my alley.
The King’s General by Daphne du Maurier I’d like to add to my du Maurier collection, and The King’s General is at the top of my list. This historical romance set during the English Civil War sounds incredibly engrossing.
Marling Hall by Angela Thirkell I’m slowly collecting the Angela Thirkell books published by Virago Modern Classics, and would love to add Marling Hall to my shelves. This WWII era novel sounds delightful and has a charming cover too.
Guard Your Daughter’s by Diana Tutton (from Persephone Books)
This mid-century middlebrow novel has been compared to I Capture the Castle, so of course I had to add it to my wish list. I’m so happy Persephone has released this gem in time for Christmas!
The Village by Marghanita Laski Honestly, I’d be thrilled if Santa could just bring the entire Persephone Books catalogue please. I suppose I can settle for The Village-a postwar novel about a romance between members of two different classes and the ensuing village drama-which has been on my wish list for a couple years now.
If Santa is feeling extra generous however, I wouldn’t mind unwrapping these:
The Folio Society Edition of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier This edition of Rebecca is beyond stunning, and looks perfectly gothic too.
The 1943 Random House Edition of Jane Eyre illustrated by Fritz Eichenberg (See more here)don’t think there can be such a thing as too many editions of Jane Eyre. I’m a bit obsessed with this 1943 edition and its atmospheric illustrations.
The Complete Collection of Penguin Clothbound Classics So pretty and so readable.
What books do you hope to find under the tree?
What a gorgeous edition of Rebecca! Have you seen the new one that is hand-stitched embroidery, like Rebecca’s pillow?

It’s stunning isn’t it?! I haven’t seen that edition, but I’ll have to look for it. Thanks for letting me know!

OH Rebecca is so good! I must have gotten rid of my copy because I cannot find it!!!
And is it a good thing, or a sad thing that you already know what you are getting for Christmas?

That is a STUNNING cover for Rebecca. Serious envy through the screen. Also I totally did a play on the “All I Want for Christmas is You” thing too! http://nerdnarrationblog.wordpress.com/2017/12/19/top-ten-tuesday-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-book-edition/

Now I need to add that edition of Rebecca to my list. I could go for that Jane Eyre as well, but I already have a few editions of Jane Eyre already. I don’t know if my bookshelf can handle much more! My TTT https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2017/12/19/top-ten-tuesday-books-i-hope-santa-brings/

That edition of Rebecca, and many other Folio Society editions, are at the top of my dream wish list. My bookshelves (and bank account) can’t handle them at the moment though!

They’re gorgeous! Maybe I’ll slowly start collecting them. Until then, they’ll just have to remain on the top of my dream wish list!
