Here are the lovely books I got for Christmas. Let me know if you’ve read any of these, and which ones I should read first!
The Far Cry, Emma Smith
The Village, Marghanita Laski
84, Charing Cross Road, Helene Hanff (also includes The Duchess of Bloomsbury)
Autumn, Ali Smith
Someone at a Distance, Dorothy Whipple
The King’s General, Daphne du Maurier
Marling Hall, Angela Thirkell
Winter, Ali Smith
Little Fires Everywhere, Celeste Ng
The Persephone Book of Short Stories
What books did you get for the holidays?
84, Charing Cross Road is the only one of them I’ve read but it is great! It is also a very cosy and quick read so if that’s what you are looking for I recommend starting there.

I’m happy to hear that! I’ve been meaning to read it for ages, and it does sound like a charming book about books.

I didn’t get any books for Christmas, but I did get a gift card for the bookstore. This morning, I bought, To The Bright Edge of the World, by Eowyn Ivey. I still have money left on my gift card. I’ll be purchasing another book soon! Enjoy your reads!

That is a most appealing pile! The only one I’ve read is 84 Charing Cross Rd and it’s awesome! I want to read the Ali Smiths and I want to read more of Thirkell too.

Thanks-I’m very happy with it! I’ve only heard good things about 84, Charing Cross and can’t wait to read it. These will be my first Ali Smith novels, and I always look forward to reading more Thirkell too.

I’m jealous! I’m reading Rebecca right now and love it. I can’t wait to read more of her books! I just read Autumn and am curious what you’ll think. Winter sounds really good! Enjoy all your books. 🙂

Thanks Kristilyn! Rebecca is a masterpiece! I wish I could read it for the first time all over again. I hope to pick up Autumn very soon so I can read Winter while it’s still actually winter.

I need to start Winter soon … I loved Rebecca! I can’t wait to read more of Daphne du Maurier’s books. She’s such a good writer!

I haven’t read any of these, but I loved Rebecca (the only du Maurier novel that I’ve read so far). That’s a fantastic looking pile!

Thank you! Rebecca is one of my favorites. If you’re looking for a second du Maurier novel, I’d recommend Jamaica Inn or My Cousin Rachel. They’re both atmospheric and suspenseful like Rebecca.
