Classics Club Spin #17 List

I’m so excited that another Classics Club Spin has been announced! This will be spin #17, and my second time participating since I joined the Classics Club last July.

Next Friday, March 9th, a number from 1-20 will be chosen and I will then have until April 30th to read the book from my list that corresponds with that number. So far I’ve read 4/65 books from my Classics Club Master List, and I look forward to reading another one soon!

Here is my spin list:

  1. The Heat of the Day, Elizabeth Bowen
  2. Mariana, Monica Dickens
  3. Heidi, Johanna Spyri
  4. Night and Day, Virginia Woolf
  5. Watership Down, Richard Adams
  6. A Lost Lady, Willa Cather
  7. The Lark, E. Nesbit
  8. Mansfield Park, Jane Austen (re-read)
  9. A Passage to India, E. M. Forster
  10. The Portrait of a Lady, Henry James
  11. The Group, Mary McCarthy
  12. Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
  13. The Custom of the Country, Edith Wharton
  14. Testament of Youth, Vera Brittain
  15. Westwood, Stella Gibbons
  16. Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh
  17. Love in a Cold Climate, Nancy Mitford
  18. The Beautiful and the Damned, F. Scott Fitzgerald
  19. The Three Musketeers, Alexander Dumas
  20. Middlemarch, George Eliot

There are several titles I’m dreading and a few that I absolutely cannot wait to read. Hurry up March 9th!

Is there a number you hope gets picked?

      1. I hope you both get Testament of Youth! I’m not sure how that will happen if you numbered them differently, though. 🙂

  1. Gosh, it’s decades since I read Heidi! I had a lovely illustrated copy of it as a child and can still remember the pictures. I loved it back then, so I’m going to wish for that one for you… 🙂

  2. There are some books there that I have really enjoyed. If you have not read The Pursuit of Love, you should read that before Love in a Cold Climate, as that is a sort of sequel.

  3. Good for you for putting Middlemarch on your list! I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it but the length has always scared me from putting it on a spin list. In a couple of spins time I’ll have to! Good luck and I hope you get a great pick. 🙂
