I’m so excited that another Classics Club Spin has been announced! This will be spin #17, and my second time participating since I joined the Classics Club last July.
Next Friday, March 9th, a number from 1-20 will be chosen and I will then have until April 30th to read the book from my list that corresponds with that number. So far I’ve read 4/65 books from my Classics Club Master List, and I look forward to reading another one soon!
Here is my spin list:
- The Heat of the Day, Elizabeth Bowen
- Mariana, Monica Dickens
- Heidi, Johanna Spyri
- Night and Day, Virginia Woolf
- Watership Down, Richard Adams
- A Lost Lady, Willa Cather
- The Lark, E. Nesbit
- Mansfield Park, Jane Austen (re-read)
- A Passage to India, E. M. Forster
- The Portrait of a Lady, Henry James
- The Group, Mary McCarthy
- Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
- The Custom of the Country, Edith Wharton
- Testament of Youth, Vera Brittain
- Westwood, Stella Gibbons
- Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh
- Love in a Cold Climate, Nancy Mitford
- The Beautiful and the Damned, F. Scott Fitzgerald
- The Three Musketeers, Alexander Dumas
- Middlemarch, George Eliot
There are several titles I’m dreading and a few that I absolutely cannot wait to read. Hurry up March 9th!
Is there a number you hope gets picked?
Some lovely choices here. I put Three Musketeers, Testament of Youth and Portrait of a Lady on my list too.

Yay, great minds! I’d be very happy if one of those three are chosen.

I hope you both get Testament of Youth! I’m not sure how that will happen if you numbered them differently, though. 🙂

I really should read it soon regardless of whether or not it gets picked!

Gosh, it’s decades since I read Heidi! I had a lovely illustrated copy of it as a child and can still remember the pictures. I loved it back then, so I’m going to wish for that one for you… 🙂

I can’t believe I never read it as a child!! I used to love the miniseries.

Great choices. The Heat of the Day, Mariana, The Lark, The Group, and Westwood are all on my TBR. Whatever you end up reading, I hope it’s good!

I’m just putting my list together now – we’ll have two reads in common when I’m done 🙂

There are some books there that I have really enjoyed. If you have not read The Pursuit of Love, you should read that before Love in a Cold Climate, as that is a sort of sequel.

Don’t worry, I’ve already read The Pursuit of Love. It was such a fun read and I’m really looking forward to Love in a Cold Climate!

Good for you for putting Middlemarch on your list! I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it but the length has always scared me from putting it on a spin list. In a couple of spins time I’ll have to! Good luck and I hope you get a great pick. 🙂

Oh it definitely scares me too!! But I do want to read Middlemarch soon, so if it does get picked it will be a good push to do so.

Lovely list. Lots here I haven’t read. I have Brideshead on my Spin list too. Middlemarch is one of my all-time favorite books, so although it is long, it’s so good!

I’d love to read Brideshead soon. It’s been on my TBR list for ages! That’s good to hear about Middlemarch. It does intimidate me a bit, but I think I’ll enjoy it when I do pick it up.

I’ve only read Middlemarch, and some are not on my spin, but on my long term list. I would like you to get Lolita, -since I’d love to hear your opinions on it.

I’m very curious about Lolita as well, but can’t say I’m looking forward to reading it.

Hi, great list. I just moved my #17 to be the same as yours and Brona so we can have a readalong if that number hits. (Love in a Fallen City)
