Stacking the Shelves- 3/24/18

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether physical or virtual.

I’ve added four new gems to my shelves this week:

 

 

 

I took advantage of two great Kindle Deals for books I’ve been interested in for a while: Idaho by Emily Ruskovich and H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald. Idaho sounds like an unsettling but gorgeously written work of literary fiction. A shocking tragedy occurs on a family outing in the mountains, and we follow various family members over the next few years as they deal with the fallout.

I don’t think I’ll be in the right mood for the popular memoir H is for Hawk anytime soon, but I’m glad to have a copy for when I am ready to read it. Helen Macdonald’s writing on grief, falconry, and nature is supposed to be heartbreakingly beautiful and poignant.

My NetGalley request for The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton was approved!! Since the book isn’t out here in the US until September, I’m going to try to hold off on reading it for a bit. I think it will make for a gripping summer read, but I might have to pick it up sooner; it sounds very clever and unputdownable!

And last but not least, my lovely copy of Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls arrived in the mail from Book Depository. It’s on my Spring TBR and I will definitely be reading this YA historical novel about the suffragettes soon. I might even try to squeeze it in while it’s still Women’s History Month.
