Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether physical or virtual.
In what should come as a surprise to no one, I’m back this week with two more historical fiction Kindle deals.
I’ve been very interested in reading Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and I’m very glad to now have a copy on hand. I’ve only heard wonderful things about this rich historical saga and I hope to pick it up soon.
I enjoyed Paula McLain’s Circling the Sun and The Paris Wife, so thought I’d snatch up Love and Ruin as well. I’m not very fond of Hemingway, but Martha Gellhorn sounds like a total badass. I look forward to reading this fictionalized account of her life.
Have you read either of these? What book(s) have you added to your shelf lately?
Recently I was sent a lovely proof hardback of Love and Ruin from the publisher! Hopefully it’s as good as The Paris Wife, which I LOVED.

Yay! Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it. Let me know if you want to do a buddy read.

I’m interested in both but I haven’t read either. I’m less interested in Love and Ruin because, like you, I’m not much of a Hemingway fan. Let me know if it’s worth readng anyway.

I’ve heard so many good things about Pachinko. I’m really curious about it. I spent 2 years living in Korea and there was quite an anti-Japan sentiment in the area I was in so this book sounds like it would tackle some of the history and issues that deal with that.

I’m very curious too! It will definitely be very interesting to learn some of that historical and cultural background.
