Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme created by The Broke and the Bookish blog, and now hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is: Bookstores and Libraries I’d Love to Visit
I’ve included five bookstores and libraries on my travel bucket list, and five that I’ve been lucky enough to visit.
5 Bookstores and Libraries I’d Love to Visit
Persephone Books, London

Trinity College Library, Dublin

Powell’s City of Books, Portland

El Ateneo Grand Splendid, Buenos Aires

Honesty Bookshop, Hay-on-Wye

5 Bookstores and Libraries I’ve Loved Visiting
The New York Public Library, NYC

The British Library, London

Strand Book Store, NYC

Boston Public Library, Boston

Shakespeare and Company, Paris

Have you visited any of these lovely bookish places? Which ones are on your travel bucket list?
I’ve visited the NYPL and the Strand many times, and the other places are on my wish list (which looks pretty similar to yours). I loved the twist of including places you have been to! My list: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2018/10/16/top-ten-tuesday-bookstore-bucket-list/

Thanks, Fran! Have you been to the Morgan Library and Museum? It’s another NYC site that almost made my Places I’ve Loved Visiting list.

I’ve been to the top two and bottom five. Also really want to visit Livraria Lello in Porto Portugal (supposed to have inspired the bookstore in Diagon Alley in HP series)

Also Boekhandel Dominicanen in Maastricht, Netherlands, in a converted 13 century church.

I’m hoping to visit both of these before I move back to the US next year!

Ooh, I’ve definitely added Livraria Lello and Boekhandel Dominicanen to my bookish travel bucket list- thanks for sharing! I hope you make it to both soon. Be sure to take lots of pictures when you do!

I’ve been to the Hay-on-Wye Honesty bookshop several times – I’d recommend, though many of the books are a bit weathered! Having to use the British Library for research has put me off it somewhat – it’s not very user-friendly. Cambridge’s University Library is not as pretty, but by far the best of the English* copyright libraries for actually getting hold of books.
(*I’m deliberately excluding Scotland here as I haven’t used the Edinburgh library)

Aren’t there some beautiful libraries?! I went to Dublin this summer and saw the Trinity College Library, it is a beaut, the Bodleian Library in Oxford is a treat too.

Great selection. OMG that Dublin library looks amazing.
I think my big regrets are that I’ve only stood outside the NY and Boston libraries but never actually went inside them.
Persephone book shop and Shakespeare & co are also on my ‘want to visit’ lists. 😀
