Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether physical or virtual.
I recently picked up four novels I’ve been wanting to read; one in paperback and three eBooks that were on sale.
I’ve been incredibly curious about Sally Rooney‘s work, and so I made a point of reading an excerpt of her debut novel, Conversations with Friends. By the end of the sample, I was hooked enough to order it in paperback. I have a feeling I’ll be reading this – and maybe even Normal People too – very soon.
Heartburn by Nora Ephron has been on my TBR list for a few years now. I adore Nora Ephron’s screenwriting work, and can’t wait to delve into her novel. It seems like it will be a charming and clever read.
I also couldn’t resist the eBook deal for Call Me By Your Name. I’ll have to read André Aciman‘s coming-of-age romance soon so I can finally watch the stunning film! Last but not least, is another book I’ve wanted to read before watching the adaptation: Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay. I think this atmospheric story will leave me with more questions than answers.
Have you read any of these?
What book(s) have you added to your shelf lately?
I loved Picnic at Hanging Rock so hope you do too – wasn’t so keen on the TV adaptation! Have heard great things about Heartburn but still not picked up a copy!

Just finished Conversations with Friends and onto Normal People now – I wouldn’t say it quite lives up to the hype but they’re both very very good!

I’m eager to read Picnic at Hanging Rock. I’ve seen the 1979 film but I still haven’t seen the more recent miniseries adaptation. I’d like the read the novel before I do. The 1979 film was weird, beautiful, and sort of dream-like. It was intriguing enough to make me want to read the source material.

Jessie, I am really interested to hear your thoughts on Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay, as I too enjoyed the recent BBC adaptation.
