Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether physical or virtual.
I’ve recently downloaded two very popular books that happened to be on major sale.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This historical fiction novel set in the glamorous and scandalous world of old Hollywood, sounds like it will be a hugely entertaining read. I may be late to the party, but I’m excited to see whether or not The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo lives up to all of its hype. Part of me wants to pick this one up soon, while part of me wants to save it for a warm spring or summer afternoon. I’m also excited for Taylor Jenkins Reid’s latest release: Daisy Jones & the Six. Fingers crossed both of her books are as fun as they sound!
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
I’ve been curious about the Winternight Trilogy for a while now, so when I spied the Kindle deal for the first book in the series, I made it a point to read the sample. Needless to say, that sample was enough to convince me to snap up The Bear and the Nightingale in a hurry. I’ve already started reading it and am thoroughly enchanted by Katherine Arden’s storytelling so far. It might just be the perfect read for this final stretch of winter.
Have you read either of these? What book(s) have you added to your shelf lately?
I downloaded Evelyn too recently! Let’s hope it goes up to what we’ve heard! Really hope you love Bear & Nightingale too!

Thanks, Helen! So glad to hear you’ve loved all three. I enjoyed the first one so much, that I’ve already ordered the second and plan to read it ASAP. It surpassed my expectations and was such an engaging and atmospheric read. Vasya is such a wonderful heroine too! I have a feeling I’ll be tracking down a copy of The Winter of the Witch sooner rather than later…

I just finished The Girl in the Tower (book 2 in the Winternight trilogy) which was fairly strong and I’m curious to see where the author goes for the conclusion. I also enjoyed Evelyn Hugo quite a bit.

Glad you enjoyed them both! The Bear and the Nightingale was even better than I had expected, so hopefully I’ll feel the same about Evelyn Hugo. Are you planning to read the final book in the Winternight trilogy soon?
