What a wonderful image — the beauty of that medieval stained glass is otherworldly. Visiting Notre Dame and seeing those windows was one of the highlights of my 20s and the beauty had lost nothing when I was lucky enough to see them again, on the other side of a lifetime. Like the rest of the world, I was in a state of shock at the news of the fire and am so thankful that the rose windows appear to have survived (I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of the structure). Thanks for sharing such a beautiful and emotinally moving photo.
I feel just as you do about the Rose windows (and Notre-Dame as a whole), Janakay. “Otherworldly” really is the perfect description for them. I’ve only visited once, but as you say, I’m sure they are just as breathtaking and memorable regardless of how many times you see them. Watching the fire wreak its havoc was absolutely horrifying and I’m devastated by all that was lost. However, I’m really grateful for all that was saved and very hopeful for the future.
