The Classics Club has just announced that it’s time for another Classics Spin!
In order to participate, you must create a list of 20 books from your Classics Club TBR list, by Friday November 17th. On this day, the Classics Club will post a number from 1 through 20. The challenge is then to read the book on your list that corresponds with that number, by December 31, 2017. Sounds fun, right?!
Without further ado, here is my Spin List:
- The Shuttle, Frances Hodgson Burnett
- Ruth, Elizabeth Gaskell
- The Group, Mary McCarthy
- 1984, George Orwell
- Heidi, Johanna Spyri
- Watership Down, Richard Adams
- Mansfield Park, Jane Austen (Reread)
- Mariana, Monica Dickens
- The Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy
- Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh
- The Portrait of a Lady, Henry James
- Emily of New Moon, L. M. Montgomery
- The Custom of the Country, Edith Wharton
- Excellent Women, Barbara Pym
- The Priory, Dorothy Whipple
- Westwood, Stella Gibbons
- The Crowded Street, Winifred Holtby
- Love in a Cold Climate, Nancy Mitford
- Vile Bodies, Evelyn Waugh
- A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Betty Smith (Reread)

I tried to choose a mix of classics and modern classics, as well as lighter and more serious reads. Since the end of the year is fast approaching, I also steered clear of the chunkier classics on my list. I’ll be pretty excited to read any of these options.
I can’t wait to see which number is picked on November 17th!
Feel free to share/link your own spin list below! #CCSpin
I reread Manshield Park this year and I loved even more. I remember reading as girl and I adored it. Happy Reading Jesse, cheers to the Classics being alive and well.

OK, so I just started blogging in the past week, and I’ve never heard of a Classics Club, but this sounds SUPER fun, and I have a lot of classics on my TBR shelf. Definitely going to have to check this out and participate!! Can’t wait to see which book you end up reading. 🙂

Thanks TJ! I’m really excited to finally read BR. I may have to pick it up soon even if it’s not the number that’s selected in this spin! Edith Wharton is also one of my all-time favorite writers. I’ll be so sad if/when I finish all of her works.

1984 is great, but a re-read of Mansfield Park sounds delightful for this time of year. It’s on my main list too but not my spin list – isn’t it great to have so many great books in the world to choose from? 😀

I agree-Austen is especially wonderful this time of year! It is definitely great to have so many classics to choose from, although it can be overwhelming at times. Luckily, we have the CC spin to help pick our next reads!

I should really read 1984 soon, even if it’s not the chosen number. It’s very, very relevant at the moment!

Great stuff on here. Is MP the only reread on the list?

Thanks Fran! MP and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn are the only rereads on my spin list, but there are several more on my main Classics Club list.

I read Marianna nearly 30 yrs ago and parts of it still feel like they’re living with me today – I must reread it one day.

That’s such wonderful praise! I have a feeling it’s going to be a new favorite of mine. I may have to read it soon even if it’s not the number chosen…

Awww, I found another kindred reader! So many well loved in the list, many I too wish to read, and others totally new to me and intriguing titles. (I’m glad you found me and I found YOU!)

Lovely list! I hope you get #11 because I adored that book, AND because there’s a new sequel out by a Booker Prize winner called Mrs. Osmond. 🙂 However, I also quite want to read your #13, so I wish you that one as well. Good luck! 😀

I’m dying to read Portrait of a Lady and was rather hoping it would be picked in the spin. I think I’m going to move it to the top of my 2018 TBR instead!
